At what point do you start marketing your blog?

    Hi all
I've been working hard on my blog and adding posts everyday. I'm still in the process of putting together my Amazon store, figuring out the best ways to monitorize the site and researching other ideas.

Apart from having the site in my sig here I haven't done any marketing whatsoever. This has been a deliberate decision as I decided I didn't want to start telling everyone about it whilst there wasn't much on there.

Now I'm starting to think it'd be nice to have a few visitors but wondering whether it's too soon?

At what point do you think it's best to start marketing? Right at the start or when you have a significant amount of content? How many posts do you think is siginificant enough?

I'm very curious as to what people think about this and would welcome your experience.

    Thanks :)

Download Yaro Starak's free guide on blogging. It'll answer many of your questions
    http://www.blogmastermind.com/blueprint/

I am not in any way an expert in the subject but you need to have the so-called pillar articles in your blog prior to driving a lot of traffic.
Pillar articles are not small 100-200 word articles but longer articles usually a How-to, a guide or something else substantial. Having had a quick look on your blog I'd say you should start marketing

    Hope this helps

It's not so much the number of posts, but the quality of the info, and how focused or exclusive it is. Ideally you want two or three months worth of posts, so people don't get the feeling that this is just something you put up recently and may not find the time to maintain.

Like xpsave, I think you're about there.

They always say to start marketing your blog once you have 3-4 quality posts or more. Basically enough for people to have something to read.

I would say that if you have a few posts that are representative of the type of articles you are going to write, you can start marketing the blog at any time. Be prepared to update your blog regularly and at a set frequency, so that repeat visitors are not disappointed.

    Good luck!

Once the site is finished and has content, it is ready to be marketed.

I start marketing it right away. Marketing is an evolutionary process and not an on/off switch.

For instance, I wouldn't start sending out press releases or spending a lot of cash for advertising with just 1-2 posts on the blog, but I would start doing the "smaller" things.

    Hi all
Thanks SO much for your replies - that's been a big help. Cheers to Xpsave too for the link - I shall take a look at that.
MarketJunction, this is essentially a 'no budget' blog so not looking to be spending any cash on marketing but I definately take your point. I'm curious to see how far I can go without putting money into the site (aside from hosting etc).
Seems the general consensus is that it's time to start getting out there so I shall :)
