At the Heart of Every Atheist is a Fascist

Its most certainly within the realm of reason that Hitler was an atheist.

I have spoken with some atheist who are quite enraged at the notion that parents raise their children to believe in God. Infuriated that the stupidity of religion is passed on to innocent unsuspecting children. CRIMINAL they will say. You should be shot if you would do such a thing. These (not so)subtle attitudes are not lost on some of the posts by atheist on DP.

    You can feel the resentment.

I suppose this social disease demands a social prescription. Or a fascist one.

How do atheist advance their cause anyways?

Beyond pointless, in my opinion - one of the most ridiculous threads I've seen, in my opinion - "At the heart of every atheist is a fascist."

I'm an atheist. I have concluded, based on my life's search, the sky is empty and the universe doesn't have a mind to give a damn, one way or the other. What this has taught me is that with one shot, I'd like to live life out morally, and appreciate life - and my fellow human beings - under that presumption, we all have one shot, so let's leave the place better than when we came.

I fail all the time, and I certainly do not presume that as an atheist I have the goods. I eschew preaching anything from that presumption.

It really seems like you want to help prove your point that atheists think EVERY religious person is an idiot by acting like one.....way to step up!

If every person that was religious acted as ignorant as you, there would be a problem!!!

I'm an atheist but I have no problem with other people's beliefs. This thread is indeed, pointless.

Yep, of course. As a guy who lived a deeply religious life, leaving home as a young teenager to lead an ascetic's existence, doesn't look like I'll likely be returning to religion in my life, but anything's possible. Mostly, though I have seriously lapsed, I have taken the Buddhist notion as a good thing to shoot for: whether there is, or isn't, an afterlife, is immaterial.

    Be here now.

    Very poignant thought, North.

It shouldn't matter if there is a Heaven, Hell, reincarnation, etc. We should live in the moment and strive to be the best we can be. It shouldn't take threats from a man in the sky to make people be decent human beings....

    Total agreement, pointless.

When I was a young idiot child who didn't know any better I thought Athiests were evil as that's how I was raised. Now that I am older I can easily see it means nothing, other than the fact that they don't believe in a god. Athiests are not a collective like a religious base, yet it shocks me to see adults thinking this way in todays world.

No wonder ignorance is bliss ;)

It is prejudiced to the extreme, same as those saying that all Muslims are terrorists and all Catholics are pedophiles. Maybe we should just ignore the OP and not give him his 15 minutes of fame.

I agree. I was an atheist for 29 years. I certainly changed my views after learning about information not presented to me before.

@GRIM, I certainly do not think of atheists as evil. However, I have seen many religious people that are evil. It's an individual thing. Not a categorised thing.

I agree, however when being raised Atheists were categorized and thought of as one in the same as devil worshipers from my recollection.

Really? Wow! That's very out there! However, there is a thought from my studying of the Bible in regards to this.

How the Bible portrays worship is this sense. There is either worshiping God or worshiping things other than God. The Bible teaches that the Devil (Satan) is in control of this world as it says in 1 John 5:19. Jesus did not deny this in Luke 4:6.

With this in mind, Jesus said something quite intriguing. In John 4:22 he said "YOU worship what YOU do not know; we worship what we know". Of course, this was part of the discussion with the Samaritan woman and Jesus was showing impartiality to all. However, the thought is that many people worship all sorts of things. Many of these things do not originate with God. Therefore, according to the Bible, these things are promoted by the Devil. Thereby, worshiping the Devil. BUT! The thing is, most people are not taught is that they are not aware that these things that people worship (money, material things etc..) are from the Devil. Hence, Devil worship.

It's just a take on what is in the Bible. Many things from the Bible are misinterpreted and skewed. To say Atheists are Devil worshipers is technically correct, but unfair because a high proportion are not aware that they are doing so according to scripture.

Man, my idea of music is 14th century pilgrimage chants, when I'm feeling nostalgic, to Beethoven's later works, when I'm flying modern. Who's it by?
