At the Beginning There Was Light... and Niche Marketing

    Hi!

I am interested in whether people carry out proper market research (online and offline) to identify their niche market - before they start their online business. I find it strange that people in forums discuss this very little... So I hope I could start a new trend...

It seems to me that very few people go beyond the keyword analysis method... I have three questions to ask you and I would be grateful if you could answer these:

Before you started your online business did you analyze in depth the following?

    1) the particular need in your chosen niche market that has not been satisfied

    3) the possibilities of finding or creating a product that would satisfy the need

    2) how big is the competition and whether their products can satisfy the need

Thank you for sharing your experience with me!

Each site I've done, I've learned more. So my first site was "what is a topic that I'm interested in that pays a lot in adsense clicks." My second site was "I do xyz and there doesn't appear to be an online community in that niche." The last one was based solely on grabbing a good domain name.

keyword analysis came when building articles.

My next site will be extracting a niche out of a given niche. Perhaps a sub-niche. Then I'll be able to post in related forums that aren't direct competitors but my content would be seen as "for more information, visit my site."

Your questions at the top are very good. I see them geared more at creating a product and not so much a site (though a site IS a product).

A question i would ask is "what online community am I involved where there is a hunger for information?" This gives you an initial source of traffic.

One way of looking for niches is sub-niching like I mentioned. Also watch google trends, read magazines, and read newspapers. Find something in a big article or even a small article that seems like it could be a popular topic that is NEW or only mentioned recently. There are all types of ways to find niches.

Thank you for your answer. I find it interesting that you have started your online ventures the way you described...

I hope to get more people into the discussion... I have a feeling that people (including myself) do not research and plan enough before their launch their websites because they do not approach it as a business...

    I repeat my questions again:
