Yes sir would do check http://www.google.com/search?q=h-log.com&btnG=Google+Search&hl=en&cat=gwd/Top It did not exists few weeks back but now it does, nor did it exist before the site was included. Only thing is its invisible in the category though : http://www.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Searching/Directories/?il=1 Looks like their search servers got updated but not their actual directory structure. For example DirectoryDump does not exist in that category but it does on their search server. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&cat=gwd/Top&q=directorydump.com&btnG=Search So its just matter of time till their actual database gets updated, but atleast their search server got updated, which i think is a miracle :=) Regards
I'll consider the Directory updated when the listings are actually included. It's been in this state for some time.
Well i thought it was not even updating its search server so was a shocked to see its search db updated. Hence thought google was actually updating slowing their directory also.
according to this post http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2006/12/deftly-dealing-with-duplicate-content.html . there is no dublicate penalty or punishment . i think link from those directories will be counted as backlinks
Read that again - carefully this time: It is a FILTER - not a penalty per se. But it still means that when Google finds duplicate content it will index ONLY ONE of the duplicates and ignore the rest. Any links from the non-indexed versions become null and void.
Are you going to post this misinformation in every DMOZ thread? See http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2613217#post2613217
Hi minstrel; G directory is using one of the dmoz clones . do you mean links from G directory will be counted as backlinks ? That's funny
Oh is is it so? It would improve with time. The best thing is that you are listed by the most popular and clean directory in a relavent category. This is not my case. I deal in textiles and am listed slightly in a different category.
I mean I don't believe Google counts links from duplicated content anywhere, and that includes the so-called Google Directory. Google has repeatedly stated that they prefer NOT to intervene manually in their rankings except in rare or unique cases - that they prefer to use filters and algorithms to weed out spam and redundant dross. Why would they make a special case of "their" directory? Especially since the evidence since about 2004 points to a progressive decline in the prominence or importance Google gives to "their" Directory (which of course isn't theirs at all - it's merely just another DMOZ feed which is infrequently updated).
one small question . do you think that there is any difference getting link from dmoz or a different page wit same pr ?
That's one of those questions that cannot be answered with a simple yes or no because you haven't included some essential factors. The value of any backlink is a function of: 1. the PR of the originating page 2. the number of outgoing links, including internal navigation links, from that page 3. the consistency or homogeneity versus heterogeneity (content, topic, relevance) of those outgoing links 4. whether there are any "bad neighborhood" penalties or similar issues associated with the originating page 5. whether there are any duplicate content issue with the originating page But assuming all of those factors are equal for the DMOZ link versus the "other" link, the answer is no - no difference.
congrats! if you get your site listed to DMOZ its a good quality backlink and dont worry about the PR. Im sure it will go up soon.
usefull? any listing that produces a link back to your site is usefull unless you don't like visitors...
any tips on getting your site listed...i had tried a few times but the site was down..wel the submition part...and then they came back on tried again but had no luck so far. my sites a 100% legitimate...no spam...original content...and what have you...how would you suggest i would get my sites listed there....just wait? even considerd having paid inclusion... is ther another way?
There is no paid inclusion option. Trying to pay someone privately is likely to result in your site being banned so don't fall for any false promises.
Thats not entirely correct, ivan made millions , there might be more ivans on dmoz still. Not everyone is frank and comes forward and declares their assets.
