When i started ma blog http://bloggingtruths.com/ 3 days ago i had disable comments and only registered users could comment but was giving $500 bonus stuff for registration. But i did not receive a single comment even tough the blog gets 50+ unique visits 100 pageviews/day (300 uniques in 1st day b'coz of stumbling) and even tough comments r dofollow. Now i'm forced to open comments to all (done so)...no registration required...what u say is registration important or comment without reg.... i wanted people to registered to stay in touch with readers...is deir any alternative to this registration like mybloglog
I always leave the comments open and there's no moderation (spam's caught by plugins). I think that's the best way (worked best for me..).
yeah..also i'm looking to disable moderation..but fear of the dofollow comments would attract spamming... pls share what u do in context of this in your blog
Enable Akismet plugin. Generate a list of flagged words and put them into your Comment Moderation / Comment Blacklist fileds in the Admin panel. Keep an eye on your site and adjust as necessary.
i use that but would change some settings....now i have started receiving comments after opening comments to all...registration is really annoyning
I have no follow default, BUT I have do follow for top 10 commenters, this encourages comments I think. + your blog looks nice. It looks packed with information. None of those "posting for the sake of it" kinda articles. This will get users "sticking and revisiting". I wish you good luck with it! I may even leave a comment or two! ++ ! ooh, if you need the link for the top commenters plugin you can find it here: http://www.pfadvice.com/wordpress-plugins/show-top-commentators/
thanx for compliments...i also use that top commentators plugin which rewards top commentators....that's good reward for commentators....you can use another plugin link love which turns all comments of a user to dofollow after he makes 10+ (can be configured to any no.) comments. http://www.allpassionmarketing.com/software.html#linklove
