I checked DMOZ the other day and saw that my site was listed at last, i am not sure how important DMOZ is now in ranking , but it Googles Directory so it must have some importance, i think that maybe DMOZ is now waiting to see which sites are staying around before listing maybe i am wrong, but 2 years is long time to wait to get on a directory, maybe its their way of getting rid of the short term websites and they check the age of the site before listing to make sure its staying, has anyone else waited for this amount of time before getting listed ??? thank you for reading my post
2 years is a long wait. Glad you made it in there. I hear for some it takes many months, and guess it could take 2 years too. Good to hear you made it in there though.
Fantastic ! You are on your way . I heard that Dmoz is not the Be all end all though ? A lot of conflicting information out there when it comes to the Dmoz subject . Although every bit helps Good job congrats
We don't look at a website's age at all, just it's content. However, a very young directory, forum or blog is unlikely to have enough.
what a value can have this content then ? this is dmoz url . I`ve said about this listing's on this post . Like this are hundreds of other listings on the directory witch have nothing to do with the guidelines at all , SPAM LINKS . What value can have an slashdot story about an not developed site I`m just curious maybe you can help me with that if you are so kindly and consider you and yours editors looking always for '' content '' ... spam it's also content ?
Not for nothing Jim, but looking solely at content to see if a site is worthy of inclusion is at best short sighted. So if Aaron Wall, Bruce Clay, or Rand Fishkin, publish a new blog and seek inclusion, it would be rejected for being fairly new???? That is brilliant to say the least.......
Sure... However you all must love a nudist website (as we all know most editors love for porn) created in 2007 rather than a country destination site almost created at the same time.
If that suggestion comes into a cat that I can edit in, it would mean nothing to me as I dont know them and have not even heard of them I would judge the suggestion on numerous factors (content) and according to guidelines, and as mentioned, a very young site would need to prove its worth and longevity, not just a mere months of posts or comments.
Congrats! You are lucky because most of us have not got any approval even after 3-4 years. The only thing to do is submit and forget.
enough what? quality or quantity? There are listed sites which are one-page-long Frontpage template. Most silly blog in the web is better than that.
No, I'm not. I'm talking about information. How much relevant information can you put in a one-page-long site (not scrolling more than two screens)? Don't forget you've said young blog and directories are unlikely to get included because they don't have enough content. Which is true, I agree, a new blog will have just a few posts are is unlikely to be useful. That, leaving out the quality of content. The Frontpage-template thing is for giving an idea about content's age. Which for a lot of categories make it useless (or irrelevant).
DMOZ is not great!!! Have tried to list a site for 3 years. 3 YEARS!!!! anyone who has to go through that is bad system. i submitted every 6 months. wrote editors. finally after 3 years they email back its because i submitted it more than once after i emailed trying to eventrally get it listed after # FRIGGIN YEARS.... then they STILL did not list it. they get competitor editors also who will not list other sites that they feel are threats. THAT I BELIEVE. I can only hope that people will eventrally see it for what is is. one big joke!!!
