This may be completely irrelevant, but i just had a look at its backlinks via yahoo, off the first 1000 links out of 4300 links, 2 sites provide like 980 , Half of the 980 links are from a site within the same group If sitewides are as severely deprecated as i think they are, and if most of its 43000 links are sitewides, and if its loss of PR happened late 2006, perhaps those links aren't worth very much after SE deprecation of sitewides Links are a vote from one page to another, if 1 page, or 10,000 pages under the control of the same individual or group of individuals vote for another page, does it not stand to reason that 1 link or 10,000 site wide links should have the same weight effectively, 4300 links might be worth,,,,, 4 links Okay, i am probably babbling rubbish, pardon me, tis late
I think most people think that it got banned because listed links are sorted alphabetically, looking like a link farm. There is no relevance among the listed links in each category. I too believe this might be the cause. Other than that, G checked up on it because it had high PR.
That does not sound right, it would still have a PR. I guess that makes sense but having a directory listed alphabetically alone should not be a reason for a complete ban, I could see them reducing the value of the links or the page rank of the site.
i agree with you. Google gives PR6 to some word clouds, and they are more of a link farm than phplink bid directories. Perhaps us phplb owners must change the wording a little. So its submit a site for review, rather than the deadly "buy a link"
actually, I don't think its link profile is worth much, besides I 've got sites which had up to 10 links on them that got zero pr at the last up date. I wonder if all its links , or most of them are from sites known to be under the same control, 4300 links from maybe 20 domains, most of whom can be traced to same controller ? probably al such links are worth zip So the Google manually review an hey, zip TBPR just guessing
Google PageRankTM Links: PR 0: 55 PR 1: 9 PR 2: 4 PR 3: 13 PR 4: 6 PR 5: 3 PR 6: 1 PR 7: 0 PR 8: 0 PR 9: 0 PR 10: 0 I scanned the domain. They have some good PR backlinks, so i would expect them to be at least PR3. Perhaps they will be in the next update.
@ mikey 1090 what do you mean ? what tool gave you those figures and is it for the site we're talking about ? Note: If its for the bidding directory we're talking about it is possible that the pr9 link is no longer passing PR, as per googles aversion to certain types of link
