I'm going to buy an Eee PC or an MSI Wind in the next month. I don't need to know the good things about either of them, that's what advertisements are for I want to hear from anyone who has ANY model of either the Eee PC or Wind, and I want to know the things you HATE most about it.
I have the MSI Wind ... what do I HATE about it ? .... ummmm ... I'm struggling, but the only thing I can say is the battery (or maybe XP) reports 30% battery left and then it suddenly drops to 0 and shuts down. Now the GOOD things about the Wind ? I could go on for a LOT longer
I've heard that the fan in the Wind is noisy (what a great choice for a name!), and that the battery life isn't great. I had a look at some today, and wasn't too impressed with the screen - but that might have just been the settings on the demo model, or being in an overly bright store. Has anyone got either an ASUS EeePC 901 or ASUS EeePC 1000H? They're pretty much the same spec except for size, and a 12GB Flash drive vs a magnetic 160GB HDD. Can anyone with a small (7" or 8.9") EeePC comment on the keyboard size? I'm leaning towards the 901 because it's smaller, but I'm worried that the keyboard might be a bit too small.
I bought a 901 for a trip around Asia last year - surfing emails and whatnot, the odd bit of coding. Having used many laptops in my life, you honestly get used to whatever keyboard you're using. Unless your hands are bear paws that is. I dislike the lack of Firewire (not a big deal though, it had usb2) and the screen went out (!) when I got back home, but Asus has a good warranty. The 12gb flash can get filled up pretty easily with Windows, and you might want to pare down your windows install.
I'm going to my local computer store in about 2 hours to do some typing tests... will probably buy a 901 then and there I'm not too fussed about storage, my ancient Portege only had 10GB HDD and it never bothered me. Have you tried GPS or digital TV on the 901?
DONE! It's going to take a while to get used to the tiny keys, but overall, after about 2 hours of use - I'm very happy Very happy about the decision to go for the smaller 901 instead of the 1000H. This thing is TINY! Not much bigger than a DVD case.
