Hi As a new member within the online community and it's back stage, i'm currently in wonder about this whole conversion of a customer process, i've been told that 1 percent is what to expect, but i've also read that it may even be smaller, as in 0.1 percent, surely this can't be true. Can anyone therefore shed some light on this area for me, how do you work out Conversion of a Niche', i had chosen online bingo to promote. I get about 500 unique visitors a month, don't laugh, it's early days, but does that mean that 5 should have led to sales. Many Thanks James
It depends on a lot of factors. It will depend on what type of sales you are trying to convert, how good your copy is on your site, etc. Some people can get 10s of thousands and not convert. There are a lot of factors the most important is your content.
Conversion rates will also depend a lot on two things: 1) Are you selling a physical product that gets shipped to the customer or a digital one? Conversion on physical products are always a lot better in my experience. 2) Are you using buyer oriented keywords throughout your site to attract people who are already in the mood to buy - or are you providing lots of free information which might just appeal to freebie seekers instead of people with cash in hand, ready to spend money. Once I switched over from creating useless blogs with lots of free info on them and stopped promoting as many digital products, the majority of my sites converted much better. I have one site that sells a physical product and while it gets small traffic right now the conversion rates are as high as 10% - 10% of visitors buying. You usually won't see that for digital goods unless you go after buyer oriented keywords and extremely targeted keywords. I manage my sites as a virtual online portfolio, building each one to the maximum level of performance and then moving onto the next project. You'll have some winners (thousands a month) and some losers (hundreds a month) but it all add up. I do like creating and selling my own short reports or mini ebooks, and so far my conversions range between 1 and 3% on those. I don't know if I can push it any higher but I'm going to try. Digital stuff can be tough. Dan
