Assets.info

I was reading online about the auction for wealth.com, and my eyes about popped outta my head when I saw the reserve price of 2.9 mill. Wow. So, I started doing some searching around, looking for decent domain names that might fetch a pretty penny, and I happened to stumble across assets.info.

I went ahead and bought and registered it because, well, why not right?

I have done all of the free appraisals online that I could find and, to be honest, the appraisals are kind of all over the map. I found them from the mid XXXs to the high XXXXXs. Anyway, I was curious if anyone had an idea as to the value of this particular domain.

No, I have not developed it, as I have just registered it and it could be very valuable in the financials markets. Any Ideas?

Thanks bob, I will. I know the .info decreases the value some, but finding a one common dictionary word that is only 6 characters has to be pretty sweet.

Just FYI - I doubt they will get the 2.9 mil for wealth.com.

You can ask for any amount, does not mean you will get it.

The top five prices paid for a domain name in 2009 underscore the value of strong generic names: $5.1 million for Toys.com; $1.7 million each for Fly.com and Auction.com. The all time publicized record for a domain name is Fund.com at $9.9 million, with some private domain sales speculated to have broken that record

Sorry, but it's been regged since '06. A noob mistake with a .info reg. Happens all the time...You will soon receive an email letting you know the registration was unsuccessful. GL though...

Primavera, thanks for the heads up on that. I checked and, just like you said, it is showing as belonging to someone else with an exp. date not until sept. I called godaddy and they told me that it IS registered to me.

I got an email from them saying the registration was successful. Do they always do this sort of thing? If I get an email saying now that it was unsuccessful... I know I cannot do anything but that will make me furious. I just might have to stomp my feet and hold my breath. :)

Anyway, the guy told me to give it a few days for the record to update but I am afraid he may have been placating me. I hate that by the way.

.info's aren't selling very high, I'd guess it's worth a few hundred dollars.

keefy1972, You have a great domain name. Don't listen to some of these guys. This domain name is worth anywhere from $500 to X,XXX. If you need any help monetizing this or selling this, let me know, I don't mind helping you as you have an excellent domain name.

Let me give you some perspective. Videogames.info sold for $3000 on Bido. Bathroom.info sold for $467 on Bido. Technicians.info sold for $775 on Bido. You can check their Auction Archive.

Yep, it happens with .info and .org registries semi frequently. Looks like first registered in '03. Impossible to hand reg a domain like this now.

Ah, that's pretty major difference. I would say that takes the domain name's worth down to the $1.99* that you paid for it, unless you develop the domain name with content. But if you develop the domain name, you can make some decent amounts of money through...financial companies have pretty decent per-click values on Google Adsense.

btw even for this you "might" get $x to $xx if you convince some nut that it is a the mistype of a famous domain and will get a lot of traffic :D

I dont think you will get much for a .info domain, you might be able to get a couple of hundred, and even that could be difficult......

Nice domain name, like it. I would keep it for now and plan to list at Bido. Their visitors are likely to appreciate a solid .info domain. Best of luck! :)

hehe, i thought you were doing it again xD
you know, you could still get something around $xx if you had a .com instead of a .info, infos rarely sell...
even for the mistype of popular domains, .coms can fetch a decent amount..
