Here's the short background so you'll understand I am not trying to rip off my current ASP developer. The company owner and developer worked out a redesign of both the main website and the user/admin area. The project has been paid for 100%. The owner unexpectedly went in to the hospital with an extended stay and there has been a delay since the developer work was finished until now. I am the new business manager and as such, I have tested the website and the user/admin area and there are between 15 to 20 bugs. I brought this to the developers attention, but they want me to pay for a yearly maintenance plan in order to squash the bugs. I was also kept waiting for days with promises that the bugs would be fixed only to end up with the request for money. Maybe I am wrong, but I feel like the developer isn't fair. In short, the website and user/admin area mostly work except for the most important parts. For example, the final page of actually taking an order doesn't work. Here is what you should know up front: Must submit references. If I am going to let you log in to the website, there is a lot of inherent trust, so references is important. I WILL contact/review your references. I realize you don't know the specific bugs, but please let me know how you would go about pricing this. This is a custom developed site so I understand there will be some time involved for you to familiarize your self with it. If things go well with your bug squashing, there is room for more in the months ahead as I will need more work on the site beyond the initial bug squashing. I will NOT pay any portion up front if you don't have some solid Itrader. Too many people get taken this way. I expect a deadline to be kept. I expect progress to be reported to me. I simply want an email letting me know which bug or bugs have been squashed and what the estimated time frame is for the remaining bugs. While you are in the code, I would appreciate any ideas for improving the user/admin. Yes, I am actually wanting you to generate additional work for yourself...but honest work that is genuine. I need to know ideas now so I can plan for them in the future. This item isn't as critical, but would be very helpful. Please feel free to ask questions on the forum.
