I have been working as a web developer since quite a long time but unfortunately i did not manage to update myself or increase my skills in this regard.

I do have little knowledge of ASP, an as i am planning to join computer classes in this month of december, i would like to know, what do i do. Should i go straight to ASP.NET or should i go for ASP Classic first.

If you advice me to go for .NET then i am confused about this one.

There are so many things in .NET, vb, c, etc. Is ASP.NET a saperate thing or its all together, i need a easily understandable advice for .NET thing.

    Thanks in Advance.

Hello dear i think asp .net is better option for you. because asp.net is differ many ways from asp. Like ASP is Interpreted language based on scripting languages like Jscript or
Vb Script while ASP.Net is supported by compiler and has compiled language support.and ASP has Mixed HTML and coding logic while their are Separate code and design logic possible in asp.net.and asp is Limited OOPS support while asp.net is Completely Object Oriented and asp.net has full support of XML for easy data exchange. So i think You should learn Asp.net rather then asp...

Thanks for the advice Webmaster8757. I have an existing website in asp and am in the process of having it rewritten in .net. Your explanation helps me understand the difference.

See both Asp.net and Asp are two separate things all together.Like asp.net required framework to run at the
same time it provides many advance tools which are more powerful and which are more useful in the web
    development.

In web development .net is the future and asp was using like the scripting language.......

It has new features in latest version....

so i think you have to go for the Asp.net..

    Thanks

Dont think and i'll suggest you into ASP.Net. ASP classic is not more in demand it is just used to maintain the legacy code.
.net is nothing different its just a framework thats used with asp dats why it is called ASP.Net

    So go for it
    All the best

ASP.net is always the right choice :)

as for the languauge you should use, I would strongly recommend that you go straight for c#

    Happy Developing mate :)

ASP.NET is the latest and best programming language in Windows-based platform but I may say it depend on your knowledge make a decision.

If you are starting with development get an ASP.NET-based hosting service but you can start developing in pure ASP, which is also supported by ASP.NET

In my view you can directly start learning ASP.NET and you can do .NET with C# or Vb they both are in use.
