i'm planning on contacting some bloggers in our industry to see if we can buy some post level links from them. i just wanted to get some input from others that have done this before. i really don't want to offend any of them, so i want to make sure that i go about this the right way. any words of wisdom?
This is a great way to get relevent contextual links. Over the last year or so this has probably been one of the biggest growth areas for building links - buying blog posts on someone else's blog.
I have several blogs where I've included fellow bloggers/webmasters in my blogroll or links section becuase they asked. I probably wouldn't have linked to them except that they ased politely and were highly relevant tothe blogs content - I just hadn't ran into their sites before. So - it doesn't hurt to ask - just make sure you actually a good match (not one of those - "Our 'DUI Lawyer Directory' is a perfect fit for your 'Diabetic Resipes blog' "), and make sure you ask politely and it doesn't hurt to offer an incentive - a link back, a free review, etc
Its a great boost to your site. And many bloggers selling spots can be found in the DP B/S/T link sales section.
thanks azakers. i was really hoping that i could get a bloggers perspective on this, and you hit it right on the nail.
i have a few blogs too, with pr and whatnot, it helps a lot, you can just ask around in the link sales board and etc.. and you'll get a ton of responses
Heres a post I wrote for asking for link exchanges but this will give you some good ideas. http://www.aaronnimocks.com/link-exchange.html
oh and while we're on the subject - I highly recommend getting hooked up on MyBlogLog, Bumpzee and other such blogger communities - they really help to find fellow bloggers running relevant sites, and the users tend to be fairly active - visiting and commenting on each others sites driving visitors back and forth between your sites. Just thought I'd add that
i'm noticing how few bloggers leave their contact info on their blog. do you guys have any other way of getting in touch with the editor?
Get from them what you can free. If they have an article up that is similar or related to something you have, try doing a pingback on your site. You could also leave a comment with a link if nofollow is off, or you could email and ask them about it , make friends, and try to get the link. Then and only then would I pay. People are a lot more generous than you think, you just have to ask.
I know I am generous about linking to others. In fact, I think linking to other blogs is one of the best ways to gain backlinks. Many of the blogs you link to, will link back.
it's a great way of getting backlinks from related sites. i have done it before and results were good
Most bloggers (including myself) would be happy with someone approaching them to buy sponsored in text links.
