    hello

im still confusing with age of a domain, we know that domain age is also important for seo.

example : domain a.com, first time created in dec 2004 and then expire dec 2009

and then i register that domain again this month ( july 2010 )

if we whois it using online too , it said created on july 2010, not dec 2004

so, search engine will read this domain age 5 years or only a few day ?

    still confusing

sorry if this is a stupid question

    thanks

for SE its not much matter as it counts mainly backlinks , contents.

for domain sales it considered from july 2010 date

Age of a site matters for the first you months. Search engines want to make sure it's not a quick scam site. Once its been around for a few months the search engines should stop discriminating against your site because of age.

If the domain expired and then you registered it, it will show the date that you registered it on. If you want the domain to keep its age, you need to buy it from the owner before it expires, and renew it.
