Hi there, 1. Domain Age I have a website which is about regional niche website. My domain is using ORG extension. The other website (not mine) is about the same niche, same domain name, but using COM. the COM website is already registered since around 2003. I just registered my ORG domain in 2009. It seems like Google prefer the COM website. One of the reasons maybe because of aged domain is more trustworthy. What can I do to tackle this age-related problem? 2. Web Hosting location About the location of the web server, does it affect the SERP? CUrrently the my website is hosted on the area far away from US. and the COM website is hosted at US web hosting. Since I can't help anything regarding COM vs ORG, I tried other method to compete the COM website from different points. FYI, I use wordpress and and the COM website use joomla. I update content more often than the COM website. both website (COM & ORG) have PR0 I tried my best to score better in Google, but it always end up below the COM website. even below wikipedia So, is there anything I still can do about this? Thank you so much
The age of the other site is a huge factor to it's advantage, most of the other stuff you've mentioned are details. Having your server located where you're targeting is a help, but setting the area you want in Google Webmaster Tools should mitigate that. The only real answer for you is the standard response - backlinks. Use a tool like backlinkwatch.com to see what backlinks your competitor has, chase those links down and get the same links and more links - if it's only got PR0 after being in existence for 6 years, it can't have much in the way of backlinks and a good campaign to get links from you should make a real difference to your site's position.
I think google loves "org" a lot than "com" As well as, Location of server is not a factor of SEO, however, the age of your site is a factor. However, if you are fien with ONSITE SEO & OFFSITE SEO, "age" is not a matter to get more organic traffic.
Give your web site some backlinks and soon it will have pagerank and blow your competition out of the water
i want to know if i add few more years on my domain expired year, to compete aged domain, does that help in SERP?
