[ask]Link Building for new website, how slow it should be?

People suggest to take time when building links, build it slowly so google doesn't "punish" the website. Is it true?
How slow it should be? How many links maximum should we get per day?

Suggestion speed is nothing. Avoid black reputation sites only. Better if your links come from relevant texts and right labeled. Create your own content with links as press releases and articles.

I think it's also about consistency. Don't build 200 links on one day and none the next day.

I started with about 10 links a day but people told me I could have done a lot more than that.

Avoid sites without any Page Rank at the main page; exception new sites Google removes all pages of banned sites from index and assigns PR to 'none'.

As often as I have seen the question I have seen two responses. One is slow and consistent while the other is speed doesn't matter. First I think new sites need to be more careful than older more established sites. Speed may not matter at all as what if you get on the first page of Digg, or write an article that gets 21,000 reprints, how about a press release that catches on and is reprinted over hundreds of times? I do think that the quality of your links plus speed can be a red flag to the googly googlers. I would agree with those that suggest consistent building but I think it is really hard to build links fast unless you use the auto submission options available that make me nervous anyway, that is why i donlt use them. Stick to manual submission as much as you can. I knkow some will disagree and I know that there are very legitimate auto submission programs, while some of them can get you into trouble as far as going from 2 backlinks to 4,000 in a New York minute. Try to avoid that at least at first, My humble opinion!

I'm not really take it seriously. The faster the link build faster the performance.
