I found it interesting in that article that 70% of Ask Jeeves income came from Google. That is amazing!

One of my domains aint getting a huge traffic from ask jeeves, but we are getting heavily indexed from ask jeeves spider.

One crawler from ask jeeves keeps indexing content almost 6 days in a week...

lol, what's the use of that? Its like if I said that my site is getting heavily crawled by my neighboor's new search engine, "Yankee Doodle Engine"...

Ask jeeves is just a dead engine, I think some sites in specific niches in other countries get some traffic from it, but for most of us it is just useless, so I don't understand why anyone would want to advertise on it

No, not really... It's not the bottom of the barrel, but it is not Google/MSN/Yahoo, of course I have seen very little from Yahoo as of late, but that's another story :)

AskJeeves just indexed one of my sites the other day.. Does that count as a visit?

Why would advertisers use askjeeves if no consumers use askjeeves? Advertisers are not in the habit of appealing to nobody.

I thought Ask Jeeves was big over in Europe. Or is that just an urban myth. I can't remember the last time I received any traffic from them at all.

People do use Ask jeeves here in the UK but only due to the fact they have been brainwashed by the advert, people thinking that typing in

"Who won the superbowl" would give them the awanser but we all know all it does is search for "the" "superbowl"

Ask.co.uk is used + marketed in the UK and owned by teoma. It launched an ad campaign at the same time as MSN and made ads with more impact. Its a *little* bigger than your neighbours spider Fryman :p It could be the 8 sponsored links they show on their serps.

Ask, Hotbot, Alta Vista, Exact seek - all seem to bring no traffic anymore.

It used to bring visitors, although the last 6-12 months seems to have stopped it completely.

Funny how some people think. Because your website doesnt get visitors from ask jeeves doesnt mean the engine is dead. LOL. To give you a impression of a what a "dead" engine can bring in per month her are my stats from last month:
    - Google 161061
    - Google (Images) 11907
    - Ask Jeeves 6377
    - AOL 2466
    - Unknown search engines 802
    - Ask Jeeves UK 713
    - Hotbot 441
    - Netscape 421
    - Lycos 360
    - MSN 357

Third place overall. You would expect MSN and yahoo to be listed their but not even close. MSN is way down the list. If im allowed to signup for a publisher account Im sure going to give it a try same as the new yahoo publisher network.

A search engine is never dead unless the owners totally give up on it. AskJeeves still has been making some headline news in the past year. Obviously not as close to Google/Yahoo and even MSN but they are still one of the big guys comparing to the rest of the web. Users of AskJeeves could lead to potencial customers of course like any other engine and I believe it was a wise move going solo taking on advertizing.
