Do yourself a favor and stay away from the HostGator affiliate program, their hosting is ok but way too many people do not get paid their commissions.

hosting companies do very heavy analysis, if you send customers who sign up and leave they may wait longer to approve your commissions in case you are up to anything naughty...you may then find they cease their relationship with you and you can loose out on all commissions! Not sure if the following is true but at an event I was talking to a guy who was convinced that a few hosting comps (including hostgator) were not issuing commissions for accounts which were deactivated (based on IP incorrect info - which is very common apparently) and as it deactivated the commisison form the batchfile was rejected and therefore not given commission even though the customer reactivated... so keep your eyes out!

Sure, don't try to outsmart them. You can be sure they have the best men in industry on the case. This is big money spinner and they will make sure there is as little leaks as possible.
