ASK is a waste of time.. Its just a joke at the moment. Aol has more market share then ASK and its using google engine. There results arent good either to compare to google. Maybe if you compare to MSN's current index they are still not that great.
Keyword isn't the main thing Ask takes into consideration, that's why they are quite frankly crap. I just searched for "vi5", results like View5 were in 5th place, my domain vi5.co.uk wasn't even on the first page (yes they have indexed it). I then searched tableless coding, something I rank #1 on for Google. I have the terms tableless coding in my URL for some pages, yet I'm not on the 1st page for Ask, results without tableless are out ranking me. However Ask attracts an older, British market. My dad only uses Ask and goes through 5 pages to find something relevant. He won't use Google, I guess he's just used to it and doesn't want to change his mind.
Yeah I'm going to have to contact them to make a suggestion about their advertisements. Ya'll are right about them being fluttered into search results. I really do like also on the right, after you search, is like a list of relavent terms and such in case you meant something different. I'm used to contexual ads being shown on the right...not something useful like what Ask.com is offering, hehe.
Since I get almost exactly 100 referrals from Google for every referal from ask.com I like Google 100 times as much. Also, since I don't have a spam site and get better respect from Google, I like Google another 5 times better, this makes a total of 500 times better. However, it is cool to be able to hover your mouse on the little binoculars and see the page you are linked to. . . OK, I like google 250 times better wiz
It sucks. I types in keywords that I rank in the top 10 for in the big three. I didnt even showup in the first two pages on ask.com DOWN WITH ASK.COM!
I have always known Yahoo to be no. 1 followed by Google and then MSN. It will soon change. Google will become no.1 soon followed by Yahoo and then MSN. Google is no 1 in search, but not number one in the overall rating as don't forget that Yahoo is more than just search. It also offers alot of other things like finance, games, etc.
I have used google and Ask for ppc (and still am). I have found google generates much higher ROI than Ask. Ask syndicates their search listings to a whole slew of very low tier search engines. The results is poor quality traffic.
I find that for my Affiliate Programs Directory, Ask.com is my 5th best search engine for getting traffic to my site.
It feels too much like ASK are trying to copy google ....from the UI, usabililty and corporate direction perspectives. that approach aint going to win over the hardcore google fans
