ASK seems to have no trouble reading the text in Flash files. So why does Google not seem to be able (or willing?) to to it?
Maybe because ASk need traffic, and are finding new innovations to work on which aren't always accurate, and Google prefer to stick with good old watertight solutions, even if it means missing out on a few things
Who is to say Google isn't "in the process" of doing this, or rolled out a method to do so and not informed webmasters yet.
Actually, Google has indexed the text in .swf files for several years now. They also extract complete URLs from .swf files. You can see for yourself. Just search on any common word that might appear on a site's main page and add "filetype:swf". But .swf files have several significant handicaps when it comes to ranking. In most cases, its best to keep the .swf files out of the index and supply Google with HTML files that have the same content. See http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2007/07/best-uses-of-flash.html for some good advice from Google on using Flash.
why would javascript help to optimize (indexing of flash)? googlebot ignores javascript when indexing...
