Hi Tried registering a domain name through answerable (directI). But got this error : Error: 2306 : Parameter value policy error Apparently, now even geographic names are reserved ! This is what I got from support. List of Reserved names : 1. TLD Strings. 2. ICANN-Related Names. 3. IANA-Related Names. 4. Single Character Labels. 5. Two-Character Labels. 6. Tagged Domain names. 7. Reservations for Registry Operation. 8. Geographic and Geopolitical Names. Anyone had any luck on registering a geographic name through other registrars ? Thanks
We just registered an .us with Indian contact info and no problem. We booked few .asia just now with USA address - no problem. We are DirectI reseller. Yes, Looks like they are updating something as we have to manually activate the registration.
Im not talking about us or india contact info here. Im referring to geographic names - like india.asia, malaysia.asia which cant seem to be registered right now.
We do offer .asia registration through DirectDot.com (R-Club), just to let you know that there is a list of reserved names that are set by ICAAN. and this list does apply to .asia registry below is a sample of these restrictions 2 Tier 0: ICANN Reserved Names ICANN Reserved Names are reserved names defined in the Registry Operator Contract with ICANN. 8 types of reserved names are described in the Agreement itself and Appendix 6 respectively: 1. TLD Strings 2. ICANN-Related Names 3. IANA-Related Names 4. Single Character Labels 5. Two-Character Labels 6. Tagged Domain Names 7. Reservations for Registry Operations 8. Geographic and Geopolitical Names Code (markup):
lol so many replies and no one has actually replied to the threads question. anjanesh, i have also noticed this, had like 50 different asian cities and areas that i tried to register, but all of them were rejected.
So this is a new thing. Because this geographic names restriction didnt exist for other TLDs as far as I remember. Do you think it'll be open to the public after the landrush ?
I am glad that I was able to answer your question on that, after the landrush the rules will stay the same. This is what ICAAN is trying to do, is to protect these geographical locations. and I belive that they are trying to get that rule on every TLD!
