As stupid as they can be

What is the point of giving infractions if they’re laughed at and then ignored?

I got 10 of them in last few days and every time I get another one, it makes me wonder if person who’s giving them has any idea what he is talking about.

Yes, I would understand and accept validity of infraction if my post says something like “good post”, “thanks for sharing” etc. (you know the deal), but when Mod gives me ‘Running Up Post Count’ infraction for fully coherent *sentence, then it makes me wonder if Forum Administrator made mistake and appointed incompetent idiot to be the judge (read my signature) and to have power to decide what is inappropriate and what is wrong and what is right on bases of his/her personal flavor of righteousness and not on common sense standards.

*A sentence usually consists of a subject and a predicate with finite verb.
Phrase or a group of clauses or phrases forming a syntactic unit, which expresses an assertion, a question, a command, a wish, an exclamation, or the performance of an action, that in writing usually begins with a capital letter and concludes with appropriate end punctuation, and that in speaking is distinguished by characteristic patterns of stress, pitch that makes a grammatically compete statement, question, request, comment or exclamation.

The main point is because it gives users the opportunity to learn the forum rules before they are banned (users are banned automatically if they get 10 infraction points on their account).

Running Up Post Count does not necessarily mean it's a sentence or not (really has nothing to do with that). You can have an entire paragraph and still fall into that category.

When you’re taking about such a broad subject as Post Count without defining parameters, then you are opening the door for abuse not to mention misunderstanding what defines Post Count by Joe Public in your forum combined with general lack of guidelines surely will ban many people who cares more about making sense and not if it’s appropriate or not.

When I see stupid post, all I want to do is to post Because: … letting some “let me say something to keep post count” that his post is worthless piece of crap. I consider that being appropriate form of saying: you are an idiot and I want you to know that.

Now, in your forum it may ban me because Mod is to stupid to know how to play intellectual games and sees it as “post count”. Well, I have news for you. DP is the only forum where you will be banned for telling some idiot that he is just wasted my time on reading his post without really posting that in so many words.

Well, I guess, I will be banned soon

    The guidelines are pretty clear...

If you want to tell someone they are an idiot, just PM them... easy.

A Better Alternative to Shawn's statement there would be to leave Red -Rep for they don't know who you are unless they are a mod.

I also got infraction because of crediting someone on his tips that he gave to me about adsense.

I mean it's human nature to thanks someone if he help you or he gave you favor right? Expect to give hundreds of infraction everyday especially to the new members unless you guys will clearly stipulate it on your rules that is is not allowed to say "thank you" in a thread.

And does post count really matters here? I mean does someone looks at the no. post count to determine whether the person is honest or not? That's why we have reputation and i-trader system right?

    You're missing the point.

I want others to know how I feel about moron who just posted "I think you're right" and by posting
Because:... I'm making him and others to think twice if he is going to get away with half baked statement
next time he decide to say something that has not: value to anyone other than himself
You will be surprised how many spammers you can cure with simple "because"

    Beside.
If an idiot has no sense of what he just posted, what makes you to believe he will care what I say to him in PM?

Well, the question in here is, will someone like myself care about Post Count.
The answer is, for straight shooters like me what was said and not how many times counts.
Zero up all my posts and see if I care ;)

The infraction system is certainly not treated like this in the BST, for example when the moderation team started enforcing rules they had never done for a long long time (as such, we're not even aware of the rule), when it was started to get moderated again bans were dealt out.

The excuse for that is - "We don't have whole day to dish out junk and issue infractions".

Which is very valid, no one expects Mods to spend 8 hours on an unpaid job (as I understand it)

Dp is like a city, with a pop of 300,000 and a police force of 25 (more than half women ) out which 10+ have taken voluntary retirement.
How is it humanly possible for a handful of people to moderate such a big community?
It's time DP hired paid mods who work for 10 hour a day and accountable for their actions.
Come on Shawn! 2 billion+ adsense impressions (Source: Google Inc.) and whats the electricity bill?:D

New "police force" can be hired (hired? they're free anyways) anytime!

DP is good, but it sometimes suck because it has very few mods, and they just try to make their job easier by making the members' hard...

I don't know why, but after all changes (not including BST, i dont go there often) i find dp boring. I guess it was fun reporting posts and getting a rep+ from a mod eh?

Are you sure you got ten? Ten infractions trigger an automatic ban.

    Thanks Brian

How do you not know the rules, the rules are in the FAQ, there was even a forum-wide announcement that shows in red on every page to go read the revised rules (with a link). It shows on every page of the forum, at the top until you specifically dismiss it (and in doing so agree you read the new rules).

Not sure how they could be any more clear. Did you want me to come to your house and sit you down and read them to you? lol

The yellow ones are just warnings and don't carry a point value. ;)
