Just noticed when I looked at the break down of last months revenue, I had a minuscule amount associated with AS searches, and then I saw the exact amount deducted for AS Search Fees. So I netted Zero. Has anyone seen this? Also, what if the fees were greater than the revenue, would I have to pay G to put searches on my sites? tom
They did not make it clear in the TOS how much would the site search cost you, so it will be very hard for them to get any money from you. However, to zero you out is a piece of cake - all that money to them and from them is virtual.
They say that they may charge you if you have too many searches without many clicks. But it will never go below 0 or come out of you other adsense revenue. Just out of curiosity, was your CTR REALLY low? Because I make more money from adsense for search than adsense and I have never seen them charge me.
Yes, CTR was real low. Since the search box takes up screen real estate, I'm thinking about pulling it. Just found it weird, they give you a cut, a %, and then they take it way, so they get to keep 100% of what ever revenue you generated. Not b1tching, just found it odd, and strangely funny. A strange way to give a guy a hint, to remove the box. tom
I find the whole search box thing interesting, because for some it does cost google money. I never signed up for it when I got my account, and haven't really seen anything to make me want to try it. Altough I do have a site I might stick it on just to see if anyone uses it. Maybe I overestimate people, but I don't think I would ever use a search box on a site that went to google. I know how to get to google and will just type in google. Perhaps only exception is the google box on the firefox homepage which I leave up. Otherwise I go to google directly. Although I learned long ago it is never good business to assume everyone else is like you.
Great words of wisdom I have a site that many people use as their home page and on that page I get tons of people using the Google search box. But I have never tried it on any other sites, because I agree I do not think it would perform well.
