Hello, I'm just wondering on the above question... Do you guys as a programmer, have to be able to write paper on your work place? thx..
As a programmer I don't write so much on paper mainly because I mostly freelance and so all communication is via email/phone/im. It is good to have good spelling and grammar skills though because it shows you are professional and know what your doing. And besides that it is good to have good spelling when programming. I can't count the number of times I have made a stupid mistake because of a spelling error and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it till I really took a close look at it and realized I missed a letter or number or even a comma, semicolon, etc. So yeah overall it is valuable to be able to write papers, emails, etc. with good grammar and spelling.
Yeah every once in a while a client will want a hard copy of your ideas/plans/code so yeah sometimes you have to write technical papers and such. Also if you become well known magazines/newspapers/etc. will ask you to write articles and columns for their publication and it is good to be able to write them without serious editing needed.
^^wht he said basically, I do write down plans but they arent technical ones they are scribbled thoughts, if someone asks for it with a quote they'll get it.....
