Health care should not be used for those who just flat out won't eat right, smoke, etc.... You want everyone to pay for those who don't care! Don't talk to me about the uninsured, I am uninsured and so is my whole family. We can't afford insurance at this time and insurance is already expensive because of abuse. Doctors are sued for everything so their insurance is high, guess who ends up paying for that?? How many people go to the hospital for things they could of avoided? How does getting government involved in anything make it better? Well, I am probably talking to a college student (or younger) because basic math and common sense are not part of the curriculum.
The fact of the matter is, yes they could be avoided but will they be? No, because we as Americans do stupid things and rely on instant gratification on a daily basis. As for your complaint about malpractice insurance being too high, if we flipped to a national health care system, that wouldn't be an issue. Doctors would be insured by the government and that expense would not be passed on to you. In every system there will be those who abuse it, but wouldn't you prefer that your family and the millions of others who would not abuse the system be cared for? As for Gauharjk, I would love to pay 60% of my check out to the government if it would go to national health care. At least I know my father's cancer treatment couldn't be denied, or if I got into a car accident, or had a child or anything like that, that it would be covered.
2 Democrats and 4 Republicans. They're talking about Obama and Clinton "splitting" the party. I doubt Clinton would go independent, but I'm not sure about Obama. I think if that happens, it'll break up the votes and McCain would win the election.
