Link: www.artsofthemonth.com About us: Arts Of The Month (AOTM) is a community promoting and exposing arts and artists from various genres such as photography, icons, design, 3D, digital and traditional art, etc. through contests and events. Not only providing competitions but to also give away prizes to winners. It is also a place to browse quality art and be inspired. To make the competitions/events more inspiring and to look forward to, we have judges who are professionally skilled in their genres who love to do what they are good at and they are some of the very best in the industry. The judges are put in place so that there's a guarantee the artists entering the competitions/events are going to be rated and voted on fairly. The idea behind AOTM was developed over many months and was finally launched on 03 March 2007. The initial design was well thought out and planned before coding began. The actual launch date was postponed many times in order to get the site working smoothly and there are no regrets about it.
As an artist and designer I would lean towards a site design that lends itself more to presenting the artwork itself. Right now there are very few images of the art on the main page. Also the Top 100 section is broken for me (FF on Mac). I like the dark background because it allows focus on the artwork, I'd just like to see the artwork become more of a centerpiece in the design. Love the concept though and it really is a visually pleasing site layout and design, the content just needs to be reorganized to bring more focus on the art in my opinion.
