Thanks for all the comments. The membership menu is more of an accident than anything else, it just ended up being pushed down because of all the categories.. might be a good idea to bring it above the fold. (and I should mention the advantages of membership, thanks for the tip)

RSS feeds are coming, I must just finish with the coding.

Just out of interest, how did you seed the directory. You seem to have a lot of articles for a new site.

The articles are all free for distribution, I collected these from several of the free sources. (The hard part is weeding out duplicates, and getting rid of the many many spammy articles, sorting them to correct categories, making sure author links are live etc etc ..)

Just finished a major redisign of the site. I added subcategories (and it was quite a job moving all the articles to the correct categories!), changed the colors a bit, added a search box and more, let me know what you think :)

Personally, I see no problem with messing around with the HTML in an article.
Things I never do is a) change any of the wording, or b) remove any live links.
But changing the H tags isn't messing with the article content imo.

Yes you are free to publish them on your site. You can remove the h1 tags, just make sure all the links in the article and author stay active.

what is the point of the membership?

Still coding that part, but you do not need to be a member to submit articles.
Members will be able to easily see what articles they submitted, how many times it was viewed etc, and also have the ability to edit articles that they submitted.

    Nice useful site.

I think it looks very clean and professional. It is easy to understand and navigate. RSS feeds would make it even more useful and I saw you were planning on adding them. The only design quirk I saw was that the hover effect on the left column was different than on the rest of the page. Obviously not a biggie, but it caught my eye.

I have one question: What's in it for you? I can't detect an obvious revenue model and that generally makes me suspicious. I always wonder why people do things, i guess I am just a cynic ;). Do you write a lot of the articles and hope to gain traffic that way?

This is not a complaint. I am just curious.

    Good luck.

    Thanks for the feedback.
I'm not trying to generate any revenue for this site at the moment, only hoping to get the traffic and indexed pages up right now. Obviously when I get some traffic, I will start to think about how to best monetize it.

 ok as you may tell , i am no expert on articles.....

if i use one of your articles...won't i get hit by some kind of 'duplicate content' filter ??

No, since the surrounding html, page formatting etc will be different (this has been discussed before here on digitalpoint). The dup filter only appear to affect entire sites that are identical. (Otherwise all lyric sites for example, or any site that uses syndicated content will be hit)
Of course unique content is still better, but not that easy to get.

btw, I almost finished the advanced search option, let me know what you think :)
