ArticlesBase links are now no follow

Articles Base made a some changes to their site earlier this week and it appears one of the changes is now all links put in articles or resource boxes are no follow. This is not only on their site but if articles are published the no follow tag is in that code too.

Does this mean that posting articles to AB is pointless now as far as getting SEO backlinks?

No, you can still get traffic which indirectly helps SEO.

You can also get people who copy your work and leave a backlink to your site as a result of copywrite laws.

ezine article is the place to go post articles and Squidoo, Hubb and Gather for lighter entries.

It is very sad that articlesbase has no follow. I have many articles there. Instead we have to jump to hubpages or squidoo.

I'm pretty sure they've been nofollow for quite some time now. This isn't a recent change. As far as I remember the profile url is dofollow and that's about it. I'll have to check and see but it most likely still is. The article links have been nofollow for quite a while though.

EDIT: I've been through a few profiles and it looks like even those are nofollow. I haven't seen an area for the author's url but the links people are putting in their bios are all nofollow.

How do they expect to compete with Ezine by making links nofollow?

Link building with Squidoo is easier than HubPages because Squidoo lenses offer you dofollow links to begin with where HubPages external links are nofollow to begin with. There is a way which allows you to get the external links to turn to dofollow however.

That's very interesting. It seems like everyone is switching to nofollow. I wonder what these sites will do when their revenues stop flowing because of their selfishness. Guess we'll have to wait and see on that one!
