Example ABSTRACT ART Instinctively, we all make the initial mistake of taking ‘art’ to mean the visual portrayal of an observable entity. This alone demonstrates our society’s ignorance regarding art. Take a moment to consider an alternative. Consider abstract art. Pull away from tradition and experience the modern comtemporary art form of today. Abstract art escapes from the conventional ideologies of creativity and explores a deeper form of the imagination. A portrait of a stereotype such as an isolated country scene, a placid lake or a distinctive array of flowers may look of interest, but are they really of depth? The great artists, Picasso and Braque, can be praised for their contribution to the field of art as they were responsible for introducing astract art to the industry. This originative style is unconventionally made up of typically colour, lines and shape to compose an eccentric inquisitive image which most artists create subconciously, based on their own inner feelings. The intention of such images are to challenge the mind and to encourage an emotional response. There are no restrictions to this style of art, the possibilities are unlimited and therefore rely completely on the artist. Most commonly, prominent features of the work which represent a significant motivation, are unnaturalistically exaggerated to draw emphasis to a particular feature or to reinforce a specific emotion. This is known as abstract expressionism which is a technique used to encourage spontaneity and surrealism. It came about shorty after World War II to deliver messages of melancholy and messages of awareness to world, this was an American movement. Where do such artists formulate their ideas? The answer to this is simple. From the mind alone. Writers may express their feelings and emotions through writing, as directors may express theirs through film, similarly, artists let their thoughts flow freely through their artwork. They disguise these thoughts through colour and shape, which can be identified by an audience. The final products are personally significant to their artist and have the intention to be personally significant to an audience that can appreciate the particular artist’s work, and can relate to the emotions incorporated in the piece. You can be reassured that throughout the creation of these pieces, they have been intricately endeared to achieve perfection.
