Copyright = the rights of ownership to the work.

Copywriting = a form of marketing communications (basically writing with the purpose of drawing action out of a reader - a sales page for example is copywriting, whereas most articles are not).

    one thing still concerns me:

If I sumit my articles to hundreds of submission sites how will google rate this ?

Will it crawl each article site, pick up my content and say " its nice...but i ve just crawled 500 other sites and seen the same articles so I ll penalize for for duplicate content". Surely this will get me in trouble eventually.

Will the hundreds of back links boost or damage my page ranking.?

Putting an article on an article site (like ezines) that is established will get you crawled faster, which is good if you have a new site.

I use a (free) service that sorta alters my articles, so I have a few hundred different copies of an article I wrote (it's not exactly what you're probably thinking though, since there is a good amount of human work involved). Anyway I submit a unique version of my article to every article directory, then I delete that version from my computer just so I don't submit it again by accident. (PM me for more info)

As far as back links go, hundreds of backlinks will surely help you, but you might want to vary the anchor text in the links from time to time, otherwise it might hurt you cause you might be seen as spam if you have hundreds of links with the exact same anchor text.

It won't penalize YOUR site for doing such activity. A business would be easily able to aggressively terminate other competing businesses if that would work.

Here's an example. A client of mine paid for an article submission to my blogs network. This client saw an immediate rise in the SERPs and reported so in my thread. Would this be considered a penalty? I think not. There's a lot of hype out there about this very topic. It's best to test the results yourself to determine what is fact and what is not. Although, sometimes other factors may come into play affecting the SERPs.

yeah.... I know results vary from site to site. I submit my articles via article marketeer who boats submission to almost a 1000 sites inclusing blogs etc.

Having the same article on all these sites will boost back links and I know BUT
having the same content on hundreds of sites will do me no good on a long term basis. How does google view duplicate content in the form of articles ?

It's generally not a good idea to post the same articles you send to directories also at your site, as you get negative ranking for having non-unique content. (Or, you get good ranking for unique content.) You can and should write content pages based on specific keywords, and then also write articles on those keywords, which you then submit to directories. This way potential visitors see your article, see your link in the footer and hopefully visit your site. Your link also becomes a link-in to your site from a (hopefully) well-ranked article site.

Also, most directories won't let you put links in the body of the article, especially not self-promotional links, but instead they go in the the footer or author info box. That's the place to put a link back to your site. As for indexing, I've noticed that with some article directories, your article can come up for your keyword within a day or two. That's just my experience.

And I have no idea what you were driving at on #4!? Good luck!

Writing articles can bring you alot of traffic. I think many people just have a hard time Getting Er' Done. Just takes a little bit of practice to write about whatever your site is about.
