Articles vs. Press Releases for SEO / linking?

    Hey folks --

I'm hoping to get some opinions on using press releases distributed online to boost search engine rankings instead of short articles (another common approach). In some ways press releases would seem more effective partly because you can pay to have them distributed to lots of sites via PRWeb, PRNewswire, etc. which is basically guaranteed, not to mention possibly getting picked up by MAJOR news sites. And the keywords can get linked, etc. Lots of these seem to get picked up by big sites which clearly label them as from PRNewswire, etc. Prices also seem to be much higher in general for press releases than articles due to the actual/perceived value -- have others here found this to be the case? Hope some experienced folks can chime in with their thoughts. Thanks!

Press releases do improve your online visibilit besides giving you One-way links to your website...

Try to get maximum of your PR....

PR prices do tend to be on the higher end due to perceived value.

Press Releases are cool to some extent. I've found that they do not bring in sustained traffic. When I sent out my first press release my traffic jumped for a few days, but then faltered. I've found that articles and links do better in the long term.
