In my own experiences, article submission would be the best channel for traffic and quality back links purpose. Of course, social bookmarking would be excellent for quick back linking and also traffic purpose.

Why just do this and that? I think article submissions and SBM are good options, but getting links from good quality high PR directories is also very important for back-links. And the most important thing is getting links on related sites. All of these combined together will lead to high rankings resulting in good organic traffic.
