I read that many believe that getting too many backlinks too fast can cause problems for your site. Is there any similar red flag raised at googleland if the amount of content on your site is increased too quickly. I suppose I am referring to word count from the articles I am writing. I know that no really knows how much is too much but is it unnatural to add too much content in the form of articles? In some ways it seems similar to too many backlinks. Practically speaking the articles I am writing for my site are longer than those I submit to article submission sites and is that a problem? In some cases 4-5 times as long but they are more informative, better researched articles. I think they will be more interesting for my visitors but should I stick to the fewer words more articles approach?
Adding a lot of content and adding a lot of backlinks is not similar as Google recommend adding content and warn about links such as reciprocal links without relevancy etc... Even though, you need to add a lot of backlinks at once before getting penalized. I would encourage you to add content to your website as it will make the bot come back often to index the new pages. Just make sure that the content you add is actually relevant for your website and not content just as keyword stuffing etc...
Thanks, that helps. The content I am putting onsight is highley relevant so I don't foresee any problems there at all. I am wanting to add content because as you say: I do want the google bot back often and the site needs a lot of content as we havent added much for some time. Thanks
If you're adding links manually you'll be fine - it's only if your using link farms and auto creating links etc that you might face the wrath of Google
