Articles from my site published in full on a forum... Legal?

This is about the fifth time this has happened to a piece on my site... A piece I wrote was posted in its entirety on a forum on another site.
It's frustrating... particularly in this case where the thread has 43 posts, yet I've only received 8 views as a result of the piece being posted on the forum.
    Here's the original:

    Here's where it's been copied:

Is there anything I can do or is this okay?

It's copyright infringement if you didn't give permission for your article to be republished there. You can request that the forum owner either take the thread down or edit the post so that it only shows an excerpt and link back to your site. If he doesn't comply (and the forum is hosted in the US), you can send him a DMCA takedown notice for that thread.

Thanks for the advice. It's hard to find contact information. I found one email and all I got was a robot response. I guess I should just start joining forums and disseminating my articles myself with a short excerpt and a link before this happens again in the future? It's just hard to track down every forum.

It is copyright infringement, whether or not it is in your best interest to have the copied post on the forum is another issue. Try joining the forum and pming a moderator/admin.

Have you checked the WhoIs information for the domain? If the details are hidden, you should be able to file a DMCA notice with the site's host. You should not have to join a zillion forums to control where your articles are published.

Thanks Nonny. I check the WhoIs domain and sent them an email... We'll see if it works. I wasn't aware of the existence of that before.

    Thanks.
