Articles from Article Directory who uses this Articles? and How?

I would like to do some research about using articles from article directory,

Since articles from article directories are duplicate because its wide distribution. How can it affect your SEO (pagerank, serps and stuff) when using the content for your website? and why other people still use Articles from Directories? Who are these people who use this articles? Can you provide a good scenario of it?

from a SEO perspective, when submitting an article on most Directories how can it help your SEO?

I use articles from everywhere if I have a writer's block; what i do is i rewrite the article to my style paragraph per paragraph so at the end it's a complete different article saying the same thing as the original. I only do that when I want to post something quick.

If anyone owns the health blog, they collect the well written health related articles from the directories and put their blog. It is the way to increase the traffic.
Submit article in most article directories, it brings back link to the site. The published articles crawled by google and get link back from there.

I have a few question, e.g. You had collected all great articles and uploaded it to your site, Now Google detected your site as a duplicate of an article directory, will google give you small or 0 pr?, will you be seen in serps? what will be the seo effects.

Yes, article marketing if done keeping in mind visitors who read the article, can not only get your trusted customers for your shopping site/website, the backlinks are there for the taking too.

This is a cool way to get your site indexed too, if they are new, if you use the major article directories you will see that the articles that you post gets indexed in hours, if not earlier.
