    Hi,
My article directory, the one in my signature.
Recently it has been ranking really well for loads ofdifferent articles and in the past 2 weeks my adsense has really been growing and growing...
Then i get up this morning, and all the articles that it was ranking on page 1 for, have totally dissappeared, they are still indexed but nowhere to be found in the serps.

This is for every single page that was ranking well... the home page, is still ranking the same as itwas and is on page 1 for "article directory"

I dont know if i'll get the answer im looking for, you rarely do with google... but has anyone any ideas??

    thanks alot,
    Alan

I saw this morning my sites also ranking up and down, i think google doing some changers. We have to wait few days to see final updates. keep building new content and back links, thats all we can do :)

Your site is still new (only a couple of months old) Just keep building good links and your rankings will grow and stabilize.

It's normal for rankings to fluctuate.

Its not new, its about 6 months old.
I think i have been penalised for duplicate content caused probably by PLR articles being submitted to my site
    :-(

the articles were ranking well because of the freshness factor - its the same for all article directories and even for web2.0 sites like hubs and squids.I have used your article directory for my articles. Its nice.well done [*clap*]

6 Months is still new to Google, too many sites come and go, your site will be stabilizing after a year or so.

Google won't penalize you for duplicate content. They will only devalue those duplicate pages and not rank them.

    Thanks itcoll,
But i think its more serious than that.
Even pages where articles had been well placed in the serps and articles i had worked on myself were ranking #1 for google have totoally gone.
Ive went from like 1500 pages views a day to almost ZERO coming from google.

Maybe i shouldnt say this since you are a user of my site. hehe.
But its honestly been ranking really well for alot of articles and then bang.
Its defo a google penalty i think.

the home page still ranks well but NONE of the article pages do.

I'll keep my fingers crossed as its only been half a day since to "blip" hopefully its not a penalty and more a google "dance" "blip"... whatever you want to call it.

    Fingers crossed

Many times such sudden fluctuations and disappearance of the resources could be temporary matters. Try waiting for a couple of days to see what happens.

such things happened with me as well. Once my all articles suddenly went of the search but they were indexed..then after a month when i edited my robot.txt they came in index again.

It's just how Google works. It will end up getting stable rankings, don't worry.

Well... This morning all is back to normal and google is good once again.
I went through my article site correcting all the broken html in the articles that people had submitted.
there was about 60 cases of this.
I also found a huge batch of viagra articles... ooops.
deleted these, and also deleted a huge bunch of escort agency articles.
I check the sites that all these articles linked to, and although most of them were ok, a few looked a bit dodgy.

Anyway, done this, and hey presto, the site is back to its full fitness.
