I've written some articles for some low pr but niche articles directories. One is so low pr that, although Google has indexed the article url, it hasn't indexed any of the info in it (ie it hasn't indexed my backlink!!)

What is the best way of building backlnks to these articles so they carry more weight?

Distributing articles to site wo dont get indexed properly is not advantageous to you. You should stick to site that get indexed fast and properly.

Agreed for the future. However, having written an article for a niche site that isn't properly indexed, is there any way I can get it enough links to get it indexed????

Their must be an url for this article on a particular site. Build links for that url.

You can do some bookmarking links to the article page. That usually helps to get indexed faster.
