Articles are the king method of marketing

Last week I wrote a not-that-good article on Jboss self hosting. It took few days then the traffic started coming as I see in Google Analytics. Every day there are more users for the same keywords.

So far - this method proved to be the best of all SEO tricks and it's as good as organic traffic

    Cheers

Article marketing is good but it has to be:

    1. Be well written - remember you're getting human to read it, not robot
    2. NOT submitted automatically - you need to submit it manually to only 3-4 big article directories
    3. Fit your product and niche

    YES
Articles are a good way of marketing your website - however they not the "king method" - they are merely one of many methods depending on your niche and your target audience

There is no silver bullet in the internet marketing game - you have to spread things around alittle bit, and best of all track what is happening, so that when you get a sale, you know where that sale came from

However Articles will definately help, but you need to keep writing new ones as often as possible

Yes. Articles are indeed useful as I do have an article site where many are contributing their articles to drive traffic to their sites. Of course it does drive traffic to my site first.

Articles do give me a decent traffic, but what i'm concerned is of the keyword density. Is there any guidelines to have a fixed keyword density?

Agreed, articles are great for ranking. Also for brand building.

You get indexed quicker and you rank pretty well. Good for spreading arround back links too.

Although it’s been a tried and true strategy for years, it seems that bloggers are now catching on to the benefits of article marketing as the competition for traffic intensifies. For those who may not be familiar with the technique, article marketing involves submitting short articles to directories such as Ezine Articles, with permission for others to republish your work on their blog, website or in their email newsletter. In return, you get one or more links back to the site of your choice.

Article marketing was mentioned in strategy ten of the Viral Copy Report. Since it’s an important part of any traffic-building strategy, article marketing is the focus of my next viral marketing update. An article that hits a nerve can end up republished all over the ‘net, each with a nice back link to your blog or free resource

Great feedback guys but what I haven't been able to grasp yet is whether the article needs to be published on your site first or whether it's enough to have links from within the article pointing to your site.

Articles are not that good in my eyes i have submitted over 400 articles for my site and not got any visibile improvments in backlinks or traffic.

Out of the 400 i have about 90 backlinks which most are omitted results so im afrain that is is not as good as it seems for me.

Are you marketing the correct keywords? My guess is your keywords are targeting a really large niche where there is lots of competition.

I use both, as well as squidoo and digg. Seems to send me some pretty targeted users. Which is great because I am not only helping them out, they are also helping me out.

    Dominic,

I have had alot of success getting traffic to my sites using "automated" article submissions. I always submit "unique" (rewritten by hand, not spun by a program) versions of my articles by hand to Ezinearticles, Goarticles, Searchwarp and Article Dashboard. But I also use Article Post Robot to submit to aarticle directories with a PR of 3+. My "mass" submissions do bring me a fairly good amount of traffic.

I was thinking about getting a program that automatically submitted my articles, but you only really need to submit to those top three. You can submit to the rest, but you wont see much better results as they all have a really low pagerank.

At least in my niche, 'mass' submission really helps. However, as pointed out at above, we can't simply submit the same article. We should rewrite it, so that each site has an unique version. In our tests, it really makes difference.

Yea, I think I heard somewhere that the same articles, if submitted to a bunch of directories, can actually interfere with each other on the search engine somehow. Correct me if i'm wrong.

And I also bet that you will have that much more of a chance at being at the top of the search results.

    Google LOVES the content.

Yes, articles work, but you have to find good targeted keywords, otherwise there will be too much competition.
