Hi all Is there any seo advantage in going to the trouble of writing longer (eg 500 words) articles when some directories will accept 300 word ones? Are there any directories that will reject 300 word articles? Do search engiens differentiate between links from short articles and links from long articles? Or should I just stick with the cheap and cheerful approcach?
Some websites will only accept 500+ word articles, it depends on the site your looking at. Most are happy to accept articles above 300 words, you can go with either approach to be honest.
I have observed over time which of my articles have been most popular. It seems that 500-800 words have been most successful for me. Others will probably have had different experiences. However I believe that quality is still more important than quantity.
500 is good enough i think and remember to have content on your site, don't put all your content on article directories
do not count for words but for keywords, but obviously in long article, you can insert lots of keyword
I don't think the length of one article is very important, but I know original article would be more useful!
Many thanks all - what I am really trying to find out is whether searche ngiens give more weight to links from longer articles or whether it is not worth it?
Search engine have no issue with length of articles , length restriction is from article directories. Well written and well time articles need no optimization try to write some thing helpful.
If the article is good and full of useful content, it's more likely to get picked up or passed around. Additionally, you can add more keywords and whatnot.
In my opinion 500-700 words are good enough.one main thing is that the content in the article should be unique and relevant and title should be attractive. It is also called content is king in seo.
Generally 300 to 500 words unique article is best, some of article rules are provides only 300 words, some of articles are provide 500 words, that is depending on article webmaster.
I outsource my articles and always ask for 500-550 words max. For example ezinearticles lets you have 5 words as anchor text if you have over 400 words total. But if you have under 400 words you can only have 3. So if anything I would say aim for above 400 words to maximize your anchor text length.
I think 500 is enough but excluding Author bio..as some article directory sites accept your article if it has 500 words in body part..In case, if the article becomes lengthy then people will instantly change the page without going through the article.
