Morning All, I'm adding a few relevant articles to my site. The dilema I have is that some of the articles have several links on them yet the guidelines say that I must leave the one at the end of the article. Would it be considered underhand if I were to add no follow code to the extra links they have included in the copy and if not how do I do it? Thanks
It would absolutely be underhanded as the person or people that created that article for distribution, did so under the agreement that those using it would make all their links live and valid.
The thing I'm worried about is adding them and passing so much PR that mine drops. Is this a possibility? If so I guess the more ethical thing to do is to just make them a little deeper in the site than the ones with just one link so the PR of the pages is lower anyway?
Well you can't lose Pagerank this way, it only lessens the strength of outbound links as a whole. In other words, as long as you are not linking to a bad neighborhood or having so many links on that page you could be viewed as a link farm, it won't harm you in any way. If its a good resource for your visitors (which is must be if you are using it) you owe it to the other to give them legitamite link(s)
Right, thats ok then. I have broken it down another level and will start putting them in a category of sales/marketing/business etc. They will do quite well from it as they will be the only outbound on the page if I do it this way. It also means I have kept all my ad space free (when I get round to getting ads on there!) Thanks, Oh and BTW, I wonder how many of us always have an Alan P voice in our heads when we read your posts! ;-)
