Article writing

Hi, as a relative newbie to SEO, I was interested to read the thread in the buy, sell, trade forum about ArticleFactory offering to write articles for people. Does this benefit all websites? I'm sure it is a good thing to do as so many people have taken him up on his offer, and because the SE's like new content.

I was after some suggestions really - I have a worldwide villa rentals website, so what kind of articles would I be looking at using to increase my rankings? Are they used solely for rankings i.e. focussing on the keywords rather than it actually being a useful resource for the website reader?

Any thoughts would be good, remember I am a newbie so be nice!

    Thanks.

Its always good to gain content that is of benefit to your readers, I can think of loads of content related to villa rentals, holiday activities, places to visit etc.

Also the more content you have the better chance of a visitor finding you when searching on something that you never even thought of.

Fresh and original content is a plus. Make sure, when buying an article, to ask if you hold the rights to the article. That way you can edit, ad some links to the content (if you wish) and customize the text.

Keep the articles on subject- they should have a good keyword and related keyword density but they should be human friendly, not just an amount of keywords stuffed inside a clumsy article.

Keep the articles interesting- "how-to" articles and "tips and tricks" articles are good choices because they offer your visitors practical content that is not boring and is presented in an easy, pleasant way.

I write keyword articles and web site content.

On my site, (which I understand I cannot yet mention because I'm new to the forum), I suggest that my potential clients use the Overture keyword tool before ordering content. (http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/)

Type in your site topic or a keyword phrase and you will be presented with all of the search terms that were plugged into Overture, last month... relating to what you typed in.

I can almost bet it will bring up phrases you haven't thought of.

    They are used for both.

A useful article would pull your visitors again and again to your website for more...

Plus if you have your artivcles SEOed for most of your important keywords then it would also help you score hign on SERPs.

So it is a very important tool in terms of SEO point of view.

Besides G loves lotta fresh content on a website updated regularly and visits it very often. :)

Keywords are important, but good and informative content is as well. The keywords might get traffic to your site, but if you don't offer anything worthwhile for the visitors they might leave... consider top 10 lists, answer potential questions individuals might have regarding traveling with kids, outside of the country, exchange rates, prices of villas, the off season, activities.. you name it.... I have written hundreds of these types of articles if you are interested.

Make sure you publish them through PR sites such as PRWeb.com. Syndicating them through RSS is a good thing to do as well. Great SEO benefits.

I never use articlefactory so not sure how it works. General guide is you want unique article words ranging from 300 - 500 words. It'll be great if you can do a quick keyword research prior to outsource your article writing, so that your article can be customized to target right people.

you can use articles in 2 ways, firstly put them on your site. They need to be useful for visitors and also be enticing for other webmasters to link to. This will get you traffic. Secondly you can submit them to other sites with links back to your own site. This will help you in the SERPS and gain you more organic traffic.
