Computer repair service industry Topic: Why fixing your computer is sometimes a better idea than buying a new one.
Ok guys, I have received a good few PM’s for orders and as promised, I have just wrote an article. If this had of been a proper order I would have wanted more keywords and information on the service that was being promoted but I wrote this in the style of being “pro repair†as requested. I know there are plenty of services on the internet that will advise you on a repair free of charge but I assumed, for this article that, the author did not want their potential customers to know this as it would detract form their business. Again, if this was a paid for article I would need to discover the motives for the article and then write it in that particular style. For the record… I would always buy a new computer rather than get mine repaired but that’s just me ----------------------- When your computer breaks it’s sometimes easy to go out and buy a low cost replacement; but what is the real price you will be paying? If you bring your old computer to get repaired you are likely going to find that all of the (commission based) salesmen will recommend that you buy a new model as it will be “just as cheap as your repair bill.†I have been in this situation and they can be very persuasive. When you see a shiny new computer, with 6 months interest free credit, it’s hard to say no but the reality of the situation is that the “helpful staff†are advising what is best for them, not what is best your you. Computers can be repaired and upgraded very easily. Wireless adapters, RAM/Memory and Hard Drives can all be repaired and replaced without too much fuss and if your problem relates to one of these, then a repair should definitely be considered rather than buying a new computer. I’m sure you have seen all the offers for cheap computers that seem to have all the bells and whistles. However, when you buy a computer for $500, you will invariably get what you pay for. On the surface, it will likely tick all the boxes when it comes to storage and processing power but cheap computers can mean less quality. These models are often made with inferior parts, are less durable and will, themselves, possibly need to be repaired or replaced sooner than you may expect. Another thing to take into consideration is the data that is stored on your computer. The programmes, the family photographs and even your Novel you were working on but never completed. You need to ask yourself what is the value of this information worth to you? If you don’t get your computer repaired, this information will be consigned to the realms of silicon heaven and valuable memories will be lost forever. Since the economic downturn, computer companies are seeing an increase in people that want to repair rather than replace. In the past, people have frivolously decided to replace a perfectly good computer by looking for excuses to buy a new one. Consumers are becoming savvier and are now deciding to repair their current systems. That extra $300/$400 that you are saving could be spent on more important things such as groceries and household bills. By choosing to repair your computer, you will not only be saving money but you will be left with a more reliable system that has been checked over by a professional and should last you for years to come.
