    Hi guys,
Something very strange happened to me.

I wrote an article a few months ago and posted it on an article directory. Since then, it has been on the 1st page of google for a number of key terms.

I did a quick search today to see what's up with it and it has completely vanished. I mean totally. Even when I search for the title and my author's name it is no where to be found. Google just dropped it for some reason.

Other articles on the same directory are showing where they used to so I don't understand it at all.

Can you give me any tips? Is there anyone at Google to ask? I already emailed the article directory to ask them what they think, but it's very troubling.

    John

You probably have identical copies listed on other article directories and/or websites. Am I right?

Every article on free directories is available for everyone who wishes to take the article as is and plant it on his/her site. It's out of my control.
I believe that in that case google would have shown only one of the pages it deemed duplicate, not erased the top ranked one completely. Aren't I right?

when u post that article on that directory u ensure that the article is totally fresh or u had copied it from some where?? if u did copy and post it on that article directory than i might get hurt in ranking.
some time what happen is the article which is on ranking is due to fresh content and it will remain as it for some instance of time but it will lost rank due to lack of back links. to ensure the ranking u must need to keep link building. otherwise ranking will gone after any updates.

It has been on the 1st page of google for over 4 months for key terms, so it must have a ton of back links. It simply vanished entirely. The only way to find it on google is to search for the exact url. I mean even when I type the title and my author name it doesn't show. For some reason google didn't like it. I have other articles which are much older but still appear on 1st page of google

It could be considered duplicate content.
