Hi, I’m debating with myself over whether having the title of an article in the url or have an article ID. Title e.g: http://blogs.reuters.com/commodity-corner/2009/07/23/oil-market-contango-widening/ ID e.g: http://www.marketoracle.co.uk/Article12952.html I’ve seen it mentioned before that you should have the articles title – but I’m sure the SE’s are advanced enough now to not need that. The reason I want Id’s is because the engine runs on ID’s. Or could you use a mixture of the 2, where you have an ID and the title, e.g. http://example.com/how-wind-energy-works-5.php Thanks for any advice.
If its possible I would do it like this: yoursite.com/keyword-keyword-keyword without being spammy...for example....this one is a little long, but it proves my point, The title of the article: How to Embed Flash (SWF), HTML or Javascript into a Joomla Content Article or Module I made the URL: http://www.websiteconsultants.org/embed-swf-flash-html-joomla-module-article/ That one is long, but if you put like 2 keywords or so in the url that is best....
I would agree with HighRankingSEO. putting keywords relevant to the topic is best. I would suggest not going for Ids and having something with the title would be the best. Using the mixture of two is also fine. But make sure the target keywords are on the url defnitely without spamming. The URL of one of my article : CHECK YOUR SITE RANKINGS ON IPHONE is http://www.kpmrs.com/blog/2009/08/website-updates/kpmrs-iphone-app-up-for-sale/
