Your article title is more than just a description about what the reader finds in your article body; Some more points on it - Your title should be brief and descriptive The article title should deliver your expert information on a specific topic. It should build interest or motivation. The reader should be able to easily realize, Within 5-10 seconds of reading your article, that is given in the Title Do not force your visitors to visit your website to see the answer to the promise you made in your article title. This is violation of trust. Please follow these to ensure that you have the makings of an excellent article.
Nice tips, marlon and unfortunately, there are many article writers already forget about this simple rule...
That might work for some newsy types of articles "Experts Say the Sky is Falling." Sometimes it's impossible to give away the goods in the title. For example, if I titled an article "5 Secrets to Making Hot Threads on DP," I couldn't possibly list all 5 in the title, readers would have to click to get the promise.
It should also be mentioned that catchy titles aren't always ideal. You want the keyword as close to the beginning of your title as possible. For instance, "Climbing Your Way out of Debt" is not as SEO-friendly of a title as "Debt Relief - Get Help Now".
Every title can't be catchy. At times, it'd not be a good idea to shoot a spicy title; say an academic article or some professional information. However, 90% of catchy titles get clicks. Personally, I don't click many of articles because I find those titles not-so-hot. Not sure, if the articles miss me or I miss some good articles but reason is a dull title for sure.
I think the best titles are the ones with the targeted keyword at the very beginning, but in a way that makes the title creative. Using both of these techniques successfully will not only generate interest in the article, but will help bring in targeted search engine traffic as well.
Also title is very important for Search Engines - if not most important thing in text. So keep in mind that, sometimes catchy titles aren't good for search engines ranking.
Title is important everywhere. I know an article with the title of "Men's secret wishes". It was read by more than 80000 visitors after being submitted to Stumbleupon. I think think example shows the importance of title.
Radamel makes a good point here. It really depends on the place you're submitting to as to what's hot and what's not. Everyone's ideas and tips are true, it just depends on where you do it. For instance, somewhere like Ezine articles, there aren't many people just looking for glamorous titles. They are searching for something, so having the keywords in the beginning are important. Then again social communities are so addictive for some people they like the "Entertainment Tonight" type gossip so seeing something like "Britney and Lindsay Hit the Clubs" will get the views. One thing I probably disagree with is the point about not forcing others to visit your website. I'm not sure exactly what was meant by that, but you can't force anyone to click on anything. My guess is that you are talking about keeping from telling people to click when writing your article. I could be wrong though. Everyone have a great day~
Either to make your title catchy or seo friendly that is our choice. Sometime, I found make it catchy will less the seo friendly at title. But, it depend on what niche we're writing at that time.
Hi Marlon! great tips you have here. Indeed, title plays a major role in the article. I think article writers must read your tips.
Nothing make my hands more sweaty than the thought of developing a title for a piece. I HATE writing titles. Hopefully this will help!
