you can check this biggest list : http://www.directorycritic.com/article-directory-list.html but mind search engines hate duplication .
Even though it seems submitting your article to hundreds of article directories is the best way, I have experienced great results by just using the top 2-3. EzineArticles is still my favorite. There is a new up and comer called AffSphere that also looks promising as you can earn decent money by submitting and using their site. (You can see what they are all about in my sig)
I've been using Article Marketer and it has been working great for submitting articles to hundreds of article directories with not much effort on my part.
There are lots of lists around (e.g. http://www.technolinks.co.uk/article-directories.html), but from what I've read it is ok to just submit to the main players.
It'll never hurt to submit to hundreds of directories but its usually just a handful that ever get indexed, with the rest just helping out here and there
Personally, I have been using ArticleMarketer.com to great success. They submit articles for you and do it to all the major article sites.
A great piece of software can be found on software-gold.com called Page Rank Power Pack within this package you will find three great pieces of software that will increase your page rank enourmously. I have used this myself to increase my two websites from Google 0 to Google 3 in less than a month. If you don't believe me take a look at opt-in-email-4you.com this site is nothing special but it is already a page rank 3. The software to use most of all is Linksbro. LinksBro will not only help you to build your Page Rank, but it will also help you to attract additional traffic through automatic self-updating content and even generate additional Adsense revenues for you too. LinksBro works by automatically building a directory on your website covering just about every topic - from arts to science and business to sports - all neatly categorized into hundreds of sections. It automatically adds content to each section from it's built-in database of 500+ RSS feeds, resulting in continually updating content related to the particular topic - all without any effort from you. The result is a site covering a wide range of subjects (just about everything) with separate pages for each topic - all with automatic, continually updated content - all designed to attract visitors from the search engines. The script also places Google Adsense code onto every single page automatically. All you need to do is enter your Adsense ID when you setup the script - and then sit back and let the script display topic-related adverts, generating Adsense income for you automatically from every click.
