Article submissions

Okay so I'm trying to get some backlinks for a blog I just started. One method is article submissions. I have a couple of questions about this. First, do you submit each article to multiple article directories? Like if I write a page about something, can I submit it to many many different directories (same exact article) or is that something you're not supposed to do?

Also, do article directories pass PR?

Edit: one more question. Since I'm running a blog, can I submit a blog post of mine as an article, or would this be considered duplicate content by Google and other search engines?

Well, to answer your last question first, do not submit content that you already have on your website to article directories.

I have been very successful with promoting my website with article submission directories. No, these places are not on the search engine's BAN list, but that is not to say they won't be in the future. However, since they often provide valuable content to human users, they are probably pretty far down the list in terms of what search engines consider "spam". Still, it is important to find more ways to promote than just this one.

Submitting the same article to multiple directories is OK - it doesn't hurt you, it hurts the directories. Just be sure to read the terms of service before you submit to make sure they allow content that is posted elsewhere.

The best article submission place by far on the internet is http://www.ezinearticles.com/. They have a Google PR of 5 which is the highest one of any article directory I am aware of. They also have really good editing features including an autosave feature. Not to mention, it is extremely easy for publishers to copy the content onto their websites from EzineArticles - an important factor for ensuring your article gets to as many different domains as possible.

There are many very good article directories and some of them resubmit your content to affiliates - ie isnare.com

Some would pass PR, but some would not, but articles help build more links from your content if your content attracts the attention of the viewers

How does the reverse work then? I'm talking about when people use articles on their sties. Is there a penalty for this? I could swear I've seen blog posts that are simply articles that other people haver written.

I tried some of both. The most dramatic impact to the search results happened when I only submitted to a few article directories with a high PR.
I tried submitting the same article over and over to mutliple directories, but it seemed to have a greater effect to write a new article and submit it to the high PR sites.

I tried using article submission software too (directory submitter to be precise). The software made things a little easier, but some of the article places rejected my articles for using the software (very few though).

If you really want your article to get picked up by other publishers, you should concentrate more on the content of the article than where you submit it. Make sure you have a clear mind when you write it. If you have writers' block, wait until the following day to start writing. Come up with a compelling topic and stay on it from beginning to end. Then go back and put in your keywords and reword what you need to to get them in. Make a third pass for spelling and grammatical errors before submission. It might also help to read it to a freind to make sure it reads well. The more useful and compelling your article is to your readers, the more likely it will get picked up by publishers (not to mention approved).

Just remember that the intent of the article itself is not just for SEO - it is to prove to your audience that you are an authority in your field. That is what will drive traffic to your site.

Just choose quality article directories!!! and also find ways how to make your articles be seen in other article site with your resource box or links!

Well, nobody really knows what goes on behind the Google curtain, but the working theory is that they will put a site with duplicate content in the "supplimental results" that you see when you scroll all the way to the end of a search. The belief is that whoever is the "original" publisher of the content will get the most credit for it. The other sites aren't really penalized, they just don't appear in the search results. Not all search engines work this way.

Based on what I saw when posting new articles to a few directories vs posting the same article to multiple directories, the fresh content on few sites had the most dramatic short term effect. If posting to all of those other directories helped at all, it was a much more gradual climb.

But to answer your question, the theory is if you put the content on your own site first and then put it on other sites after the search engines have it indexed, you should be okay.

How do you know if an article directory is "quality" or not? I have tried many different directories and all of them seem to operate slightly different. Please give us the links to the "good and quality article directories". Thanks

You can submit the same article to hundreds of article directories, Google and other search engines will not penalize you. No problem!

Articlecity appears to be a dead loss these days. i have submitted many articles to them but can only find 2 on the site. they seem to have stopped accepting some time ago ??
I do use goarticles.com, ezinearticles.com and articlesbase.com very successfully though.

Some of these on your list do not allow you to view the articles submitted. Or, am I missing something??

You can submit one article in many article directories. There is no problem if the article is published with author bio. But if the article is not posted with author bio then also there is no problem with your site. This will create problems with them who will use your article in their site. But u also has to be careful about not using the article in your site. U will just use the article in other sites or article directories.

Do any article directories allow you to put links ( dofollow links) into the text of the article ?
    Thank you
