Ok I have written a few articles for my websites and the 2 questions I had was this.

#1 Do you get valid backlinks for the articles written and are they counted?

#2 Duplicate content, I noticed that some articles get placed in the supplemental index. They were all the same content, so I am wondering if I change the articles when I submit them if they wont fall into the supplemental trap ?

    any more suggestions would help

You get a few valid back links. I tested this with several hundred submissions. Initially received about 100 links then within a month it dropped down to 15.

My suggstion is submit a unique article to each directory. There are software programs out their that will aid with it, yet you'll still have to put in some work to each one to ensure their readable

They go into the supplemental results because Google sees them as exactly the same page. You can find software that will rotate your titles and summary but I don't know if it's enough to trick Google.
