Article submissions for back links - multiple or just ezinearticles?

I've been looking at doing a few more articles (done a couple awhile back) as I really need to start building some backlinks to a few of my blogs and sites as I have done little work other than submitting to about 20 or so directories (which I have been reading is as good as useless)

My question is though, when doing these articles would I be better submitting to teh numerous article directories out there, or just aiming it at the big one (ezinearticles I presume?) so that it doesn't gte a duplicate content slap.

Not sure how much traffic these articles get but I am guessing that you don't want a duplicate slap for it so you get better quality backlinks... but multiple will give you some well anchored, numerous (if not so authoritive) backlinks

anyone any advice for an SEO newbie?

I think that something people forget when doing article promotions is this.

The whole advantage touted by article submissions is the viral nature of the link building. Other sites take the article and post it on theirs for content leaving the links intact. That means the duplicate content is going to be there if the article promotion is working anyway. So why not get a jumpstart on the viral linkbuilding?

this is true, but you can give yourself a headstart by submitting *unique versions of the article* to each seperate directory.

You can do that by spending half an hour per article doing it by hand, by spending an hour creating a version that you can 'jet spin', or 30 seconds 'wrangling' the article automatically in contentboss.

I try and keep mine a little bit different if I submit to multiple sites, but usually the ones posted on my site and eZine articles are the same. Although this past summer, I had one article to various directories and within a week or so the majority of the page 1 results for the keyword we focused on were from the directories.

I would focus mainly on 4 or 5 good article directories and submit unique articles to those. I have recently found that GoArticles isn't that great, but Ezinearticles plus a few other are good. Apart from the back links you get, check your website stats and see which directories you get referrals from and concentrate on those.

You can always use Article Post Robot to post your article out to loads of different directories, giving you links from different IP's. Bare in mind though that many of the smaller directories do not carry much weight if any. Main thing to do is write good titles and include variations of your keywords in them.

These posts are pretty accurate, re-write the article a few times (3 to 5) and submit it to the best sites. Make it keyword rich and worth accessing.

If you need help or just want to pay someone a bit to do it for you, the copywriting forum on DP is a great place to start.

I like to submit them to ezinearticles as it is a high authority directory. Isnare, the paid opcion, is another option for me because it is a distributor.

I've found that I get more url clicks from ezinearticles than all the other directories put together.

I would go for a separate article on ezinearticles and submit another set to other directories. I am still not very convinced that article submissions work :)

I have to agree with swedal...

There are better, easier, faster, more productive, less time consuming, more powerful ways to build backlinks than article directories. Consider the backlinks from AD's as a bonus. If people use your articles that is the advantage assuming they include the bio links to your site.

Personally I would save my best material for my own sites and modify topics for AD's and only submit to the best ones. The more articles you have the more traffic you will receive. If they are SEO'ed properly that is even better.

You need to understand that articles can give you much more than just backlinks.

For a start if you have a lot of quality articles out there, you can brand yourself as an expert in your relevant niche, and this helps to build your own credibility when people buy products from you.

If you a consistent with producing quality and unique articles, chances are at least some of them will go viral. Blogs, websites etc often go to these article directories to grab content for their own sites. Once your articles start going viral, imagine the link and traffic power that has.

And this is pretty much all long-term. You create the article once, and it will bring you more traffic and links years down the track.

    I liked jetspinner until... Saturday.

I generally check my grammar and spelling into Word once the article is written, then, I do the re-write and sumbit into jetspinner.

Saturday, I decided - for once - to check each and every spinned article and noticed that there were a lot of mistakes into the spinned words or sentences, for instance, Assissi, became "Asisiss", "I get back to you" became "You me get back to", etc. So, don't know if it's a good idea to submit articles with so many errors.

Hey all, this is a great post. I have found article sites to be useful, although there is no accurate way to decipher how much weight the backlinks actually carry.

In regards to which article site is best to refer traffic, I would agree that EzineArticles probably offers the best backlinks and related quality content. I published some of my blogs on EzineArticles and my site receives more traffic through them than any other article submissions. You really have to make sure your article is written well and abides by their fairly strict guidelines. I have had a few articles rejected but with a few modification they normally get through 2nd or 3rd go.

I got little traffic from article submission, include EzineArticles.

How much traffic did you get from EzineArticles per article?

If you submit manually, stick to the biggest directories. If you use a submission service, I recommend submityourarticle.com

You can submit various articles to various article directories rather than submitting the same article to different directories. If you keep this point in mind, you can win the web....

The article published at ezinearticles will drive a lot traffic to your website if your article is original. It also allow you to backlink your website. My website benefit a lot from ezinearticles. It is one great website.

When I started doing article submissions, I submitted to +10 directories, now I'm down to two, ezinearticles and goarticles, which are the ones that works best for me.
