One of the ways I am promoting my website through article submission. Would anyone have some guidelines on the best way to submit an article?

    There are a few strategies:

1.) When starting out, you're going to have to post all your articles to the free sites to get people interested in your writing. Expect your work to be scraped and ranked ahead of you for these first few submissions.

2.) Once you get to about your 3rd article, post them on your site first, then to the free article sites.

3.) After your site is know to Google for it's articles, post to your site first, and then when you post your articles elsewhere, only include a part of your article on the free sites. Make them come to your site for the 'best' parts of the article. (ex - a top 10 list where you list 10-8 on the free site, and the rest on your site)

4.) Don't forget to submit your articles to the social space, and if you think you have a killer article, you should do a press release about it.

    Hope this helps

Put links to your site within the article itself and make sure to put your url in the resource box with the http prefix, which in most cases, auto formats the url into a link when the article goes live.
Also make sure the article is actually informative and not just overly promotional.

When submitting an article make sure that your content has something to do or related to your site.

Make sure your article is outlined before you write it. Your article will be the first impression the reader has of you. You MUST come off as an expert, otherwise he is going to go elsewhere.

The general practice for a link back to your site is to place said link i the "resource box" at the article directory you are using. Since your link is one of the last things on the page, you have to keep the reader's interest long enough for him to get to the bottom, where your link is located. If your article is well presented, you will get a clickthrough to your site.

Keep your article around 400 words. Your resource box will increase the true word count. You dont want the article to be too long. As a matter of fact, you should write your article in a manner that causes the reader to want to click your link for more information.

Here is what I have been doing the last three years:

    1. write 4 different articles.
    2. Post them to the 4 top sites
    3. After the articles have been submitted and indexed by Google, take the same article and submit to as many as you wish.
